Tell us about yourself.
My name is Cici, and I’ve been in Canada for two and a half years. I’m originally from China and worked in sales before moving here. My job made me an extroverted person, and I enjoy trying new things and experiencing different cultures. Moving to Canada has been an exciting challenge, and I love stepping out of my comfort zone.
How do you spend your free time in Vancouver?
I enjoy outdoor activities in every season. In spring, I visit parks to admire cherry blossoms. In summer, I go camping, hiking, paddleboarding, and crab fishing with friends. In autumn, I love seeing the maple leaves and joining the Pumpkin Festival. In winter, I go snowboarding at Cypress Mountain.
What are some challenges you’ve faced moving to Canada?
Language has been my biggest challenge. I remember when I first arrived in Vancouver, I didn’t even know whether to say May I or Could I when ordering coffee—I would just say I want...
Which place would you recommend to someone visiting your country?
China has many amazing places to visit. Tibet offers breathtaking high-altitude landscapes, Xinjiang has beautiful scenery and delicious food, and cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen showcase modern China while preserving its history and culture.
What are you hoping to achieve during your time at MOSAIC?
I plan to attend college next year, so I hope that the English skills I learn at MOSAIC will prepare me for my studies.
